Bag Policy

In order to maintain a safe and secure environment at the Tsongas Center, we have implemented a bag policy that limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into our venue.

Guests will be able to carry ONE of the following bags into the venue:

  • One bag that is clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and does not exceed 12''x12''x 6''.
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
  • Small clutch bags, which CANNOT exceed 4.5"x6.5", with or without a handle or strap.
  • All bags within clear plastic bags cannot exceed 4.5"x6.5" in size.

Exceptions will be made for medical, family, or child care bags.

Prohibited Items

The following items are not permitted inside the Tsongas Center:

  • No professional cameras
  • No audio/video recording devices
  • Any gifts or packages should be returned to the sender/patron
  • Backpacks and over-sized purses, see bag policy (link)
  • Large bags, over-sized purses, backpacks, duffle bags or boxes
  • Food or beverages
  • Cans, bottles, coolers or other similar containers
  • Laser pens or laser products
  • Noise making devices (airhorns, horns, whistles, etc.)
  • Projectiles (including beach balls and frisbees)
  • Over-sized signs (larger than 2' x 3')
  • Stickers
  • Balloons
  • Cigarettes, vapes, e-cigarettes, and lighters
  • Skateboards or skates
  • Sticks or poles
  • Spiked necklaces and belts or pins of any kind
  • Illegal substances or alcohol
  • Weapons of any kind or any kind of item that could be construed as a weapon (Real or Fake)
  • Any other item deemed unacceptable by Management
  • Outside food and/or beverages, including alcoholic beverages
  • Drugs, including medical marijuana, or illegal substances
  • Any item deemed dangerous or distracting by the arena, team or production

Metal Detectors

For the safety and security of our fans, entertainers, players and staff, Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell employs the use of CEIA PMD2 Plus Elliptic walkthrough metal detectors for all events taking place at the venue. Qualified designated security personnel will be onsite to facilitate the screening as well as any secondary searches that may be required. Patrons who require alternative screening options due to medical or accessibility reasons may request this upon arrival at the venue.

Fans that refuse to submit to either a walkthrough, wand or pat-down search shall be refused entry.

Smoke & Tobacco Free

UMass Lowell, including the Tsongas Center, became a tobacco-free campus in August 2014. All tobacco products are prohibited from entering the building.  

Camera Policy

Many guests are extremely excited about seeing their favorite artist perform and want to perserve this special moment by taking pictures. To ensure you fully enjoy your experience at the Tsongas Center and are never disappointed or inconvenienced; we would like to provide you with the Tsongas Center standard camera policy and some general information about taking pictures at our events.

It is extremely important to know that each show will have its own unique restrictions on photography and video, but generally, the following standard restrictions apply to Tsongas Center events. Please note in all instances, the show camera policy supersedes the Tsongas Center standing camera policy. 

  • No Video Recording from any source
  • No Audio Recording from any source
  • No Professional Cameras
    • Tsongas Center defines a professional camera as “a camera, digital or otherwise, with a detachable/interchangeable lens of any size/type.”
  • Selfie sticks, go-pro devices, and iPads are not permitted inside the venue
